The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment. As a key member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist coordinates and administers respiratory therapy modalities, performs diagnostic tests, and monitors patients receiving mechanical ventilation.
Key Responsibilities- Administer therapy modalities as ordered by physicians, including mechanical ventilation and arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
- Respond to code blue situations for assigned areas and assist in the transport of ventilator and critically ill patients.
- Verify physician orders prior to therapy treatment and provide accurate reports to oncoming staff at shift end.
- Enter patient contacts into appropriate systems and perform equipment rounds.
- State Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
- Respiratory Therapy Degree – AAS or BS.
- Basic Life Support Certification and ALCS.
- One-year adult critical care experience.
- Previous experience with mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, and oximetry.
