Government Instructor

The Government Instructor will be responsible for providing instruction to students enrolled in Texas and Federal Government courses, as well as other related courses and topics, in the General Education and Developmental Studies Department. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining office hours, teaching extended day classes, and hybrid/online courses, as required, both on campus and at alternate locations.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Instruction
- Actively engage students in the learning process
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
- College Service
- Participate in college service, which includes but is not limited to, committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruiting
- Curriculum Development
- Assist in the development of curriculum, as needed
- Assessment and Evaluation
- Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
- Professional Development
- Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills
- Education
- Master's degree in Government/Political Science or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Government/Political Science
- Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Possess good time management skills
- Experience
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Experience in national, state, or local government or politics
- Education
- Doctorate degree in subject area
