We are seeking a skilled Pastry Cake Decorator with a passion for creating exquisite gourmet pastries. The ideal candidate will possess artistic flair and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role requires extensive experience in cake decoration, icing techniques, and various baking tasks. As a vital member of our pastry team, you will contribute to the daily preparation and production of both large and small pastry items, ensuring exceptional quality in every product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Artfully decorates a variety of cakes, tarts, pastries, and custom orders.
- Assists in the production of essential bakery items, including parfaits, bars, and cupcakes.
- Produces in-house items to meet daily production targets as outlined in production sheets.
- Maintains accurate production and spoilage records, adjusting as necessary to ensure product availability.
- Prepares, packages, weighs, and prices bakery products for retail.
- Monitors product quality for freshness and implements proper product rotation.
- Arrives at the workstation punctually, well-groomed, and ready to work; adheres to scheduled shifts and participates in required training and meetings.
- Enhances sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.
- Follows established procedures for health and sanitation, safe work practices, and compliance with Weights and Measures.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment, ensuring equipment meets cleanliness and safety standards.
- Completes opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy in signage and pricing.
- Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.
- Performs additional duties as directed by management.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods; hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays (minimum 40 hours per week, 8-12 hours per day, 5-6 days per week).
- Physical demands include kneeling, stooping, climbing stairs, and lifting weights ranging from 5 to 50 pounds while working in a high-volume pastry production team.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform job functions.
- Hand dexterity required for tasks such as single grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing/pulling.
- Exposure to various temperatures, including freezing and refrigeration, as well as working in both wet and dry conditions.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Proficient in using tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery.
Qualifications:
- Ability to accurately read and follow written recipes.
- Understanding of scratch baking techniques.
- Highly organized, attentive, punctual, and responsive to daily production demands.
