Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient care is prioritized by carefully monitoring patients, reviewing their charts, and reporting any changes in their condition.
  • Work alongside the scrub nurse, providing assistance as necessary to ensure efficient surgical procedures.
  • Skillfully position patients and prepare the surgical area, adjusting the table as needed to align with our established protocols.
  • Maintain all essential supplies and equipment in the operating room, ensuring they are readily available for the surgical team.
  • Exhibit strict adherence to aseptic techniques when handling sterile packs and supplies.
  • Accurately track sponges, needles, and instruments to prevent any discrepancies, in accordance with our policies.
  • Identify physical symptoms and changes proactively, taking swift and appropriate actions to ensure timely patient care.
  • Facilitate seamless coordination of patient care with the preoperative staff and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) personnel.
  • Accompany patients to the PACU, providing detailed reports to the nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Deliver personalized attention to ensure continuity of care for each patient.
  • Assist in the preoperative area and PACU as needed, contributing to the delivery of exceptional care.
  • Support the management of supplies and equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Help maintain accurate records and statistics, ensuring thoroughness and precision.
  • Collaborate in the development and maintenance of procedures, policies, and standards to enhance our commitment to excellence.
  • Be open to responsibilities that extend beyond direct patient care, fostering professional growth and diverse experiences.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Possess a current professional nursing license in the State of Georgia, with knowledge of the nursing performance standards as outlined in the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
  • Certification in CPR and ACLS is required.
  • Previous experience as an OR Circulator is essential.
  • Experience in Ambulatory Care and Orthopedics is preferred.
  • Experience with conscious sedation is advantageous.

There may be exposure to anesthetic gases, hazardous materials, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning agents. The employee frequently needs to move all extremities within a full range of motion and may need to stoop and bend at 90 degrees. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision.
