As an Emergency Response Instructor, you will contribute to the mission of the St Cloud Area Family YMCA, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing community well-being through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position involves delivering comprehensive training in first aid, CPR, and AED to both staff and community members. Your role is vital in equipping participants with essential lifesaving skills, ensuring they are confident and prepared for emergencies.
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual who is open to a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends as necessary to meet training demands. This is a part-time role.

To excel in this position, candidates must effectively fulfill the essential duties and qualifications outlined below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Facilitate American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED courses for staff and community members, ensuring that all sessions are engaging, informative, and compliant with American Red Cross standards as well as YMCA guidelines.
Collaborate with the HR Trainer to develop and implement an annual in-service training calendar. Monitor and assess the effectiveness and participation levels of the program. - Guide program activities to address community needs and achieve YMCA objectives. Establish program activities and expand offerings within the community in alignment with strategic and operational plans. Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with local organizations.
- Accurately complete and submit all necessary course documentation, including attendance records, evaluations, and participant certifications. Stay informed about the latest first aid and CPR techniques and engage in ongoing professional development to maintain instructor certification.
- Must hold a current American Red Cross Instructor Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED or be willing to obtain certification prior to starting. Typical prerequisites include completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, Working with Program Volunteers, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Completion of YMCA-specific program and trainer certifications.
- Prior experience in teaching or training is preferred.
- Ability to effectively engage with diverse groups from various social and economic backgrounds.
- Exhibit leadership qualities in a friendly, assertive, professional, and mature manner.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with participants, members, directors, and staff.
- Physical capability to perform essential job functions and supervise program activities, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
