Water Quality Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Water Quality Specialist to join our team at the City of New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing water quality monitoring and research in New York Harbor, as well as assisting in the development of annual reports and data management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct water quality monitoring and sampling in New York Harbor
  • Assist in the development of annual reports and data management
  • Support the maintenance and reporting of data produced by the section
  • Oversee the QAQC of Harbor Survey data
  • Act as assistant to the data manager of the section

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in environmental science, marine science, or a related field
  • At least one year of experience in water quality planning, management, or research
  • Experience with ArcGIS online and data management software

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with daily/weekly QAQC of data
  • Experience in generating annual reports
  • Driver's license valid in the State of New York

Additional Information: New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
