Job SummaryThe Direct Support Professional will provide training and support to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to live independently and participate fully in their communities. This role requires a strong commitment to providing person-centered care and promoting the autonomy and dignity of individuals with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide training and support to individuals with disabilities in daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Assist individuals with disabilities in accessing recreational, cultural, and religious opportunities.
- Provide transportation to and from jobs, day programs, medical and dental appointments, and other activities.
- Assist individuals with disabilities in making progress toward goals and activities of daily living.
- Complete computerized daily progress notes highlighting progress toward goals and daily activities.
- Follow medication administration and documentation procedures.
- Attend all scheduled meetings and complete all assigned and required trainings.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Michigan driver's license and three years of driving experience.
- Flexibility, caring, good communication, and computer skills.
The Direct Support Professional will work in a variety of settings, including residential and community settings. The physical demands of this role include standing, sitting, and using a computer. Specific vision abilities required include close vision requirements due to computer and medication administration work. Light to moderate lifting is also required.
