Senior Shipfitter

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Shipfitter with extensive experience in the shipbuilding industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fitting and assembling metal components for vessels.

Key Responsibilities

• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a 1st Class Shipfitting role.
• In-depth understanding of the tools, techniques, and processes involved in measuring and fitting aluminum and steel components.
• Proficient in basic mathematical operations and measurements using the metric system.
• Familiarity with shipyard terminology, including general ship structure and vessel layout.
• Expertise in edge preparation and understanding weld joint specifications.
• Advanced ability to interpret engineering drawings and sketches.
• Safely rig plates and equipment as required.
• Utilize craft-related tools and equipment effectively, including but not limited to: millers, sanders, grinders, and saws.
• Conduct basic layout of materials and weldments based on engineering sketches with minimal oversight.
• Perform shipfitting tasks such as fitting structures, cutting, sanding, grinding, and tacking with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility to work various shifts as assigned.
• Successful completion of a 7-year background check is mandatory.

Compensation: $28.50 per hour with a $1,000 Sign-On Bonus.
