Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dining Cashier to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. As a Dining Cashier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing customer transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process customer transactions, including cash, credit cards, and meal plans, with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Restock cashier supplies, assist in restocking shelves and coolers, and ensure all HAACP logs are completed as required.
  • Clean and close the dining area, including cleaning tables, emptying trash, and cleaning equipment as needed.
  • Complete paperwork related to cashier operations, including transfer of funds reports, closing reports, cash reconciliation sheets, and deposit envelopes.
Requirements
  • One year of experience as a cashier in a large-scale operation.
  • Customer service experience and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe throughout employment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining cash handling training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Two or more years of experience as a cashier in a large-scale operation.
  • Experience as a Cashier in a dining or retail establishment.
  • Experience using a point-of-sale system (POS).
  • High volume cashiering experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision.
Working Conditions
  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
  • May work in extreme temperatures.
  • May work around chemical fumes.
  • Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
  • Use of manual dexterity.
  • Lifting and moving up to 35 pounds.
  • Pushing, pulling and moving up to 50 pounds.
Work Shift

Workdays, area, and work hours (19 hrs. per week max) may vary based on the needs of the Unit and University Housing and Dining.
