Job Summary

The City of Manhattan, Kansas is seeking a Recreation Instructor to lead our Ice Skating Program at the Manhattan Ice Academy. As a Recreation Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching ice skating lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach daily ice skating lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels.
  • Follow direction from the MPRD supervisor, Ice Rink manager, and Skating Lessons supervisor.
  • Communicate regularly with the lesson supervisor to ensure that all organizational goals are being met.
  • Provide excellent customer service and possess a service philosophy that reflects the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional working relationships with others, individually and in a team environment.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of ice-skating technique, either figure or hockey.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training or experience in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
Additional Information
  • This is a seasonal, non-exempt position.
  • Applicants must pass a background check.
  • Staff may be asked to work weekends and holidays.
  • The ice rink is open from November to February.
  • Staff will be required to attend in-service training.
