Position Overview:
Accountable for verifying adherence to coding standards through auditing, training, and oversight of clinic coding personnel. Conducts assessments of provider documentation and code selection accuracy. Acts as a mentor and coach for coding professionals. Facilitates educational opportunities and participates as a member of the Clinic Support Services Department Leadership Team and the Clinic Compliance and Integrity Team.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform quality audits and evaluations of coding completed by clinic coders. Generate reports and corrective action plans in collaboration with Coding Leads and Management.
2. Communicate discrepancies and corrective measures in a constructive and professional manner.
3. Analyze provider coding trends using tools such as Histograms to identify areas needing improvement and develop strategies to address these issues.
4. Monitor the effectiveness of educational initiatives through changes in documentation or coding practices. Seek support from management when obstacles arise.
5. Assess coder competencies through the auditing process and identify training and educational needs. Provide or coordinate necessary training sessions.
6. Travel to various clinics to deliver educational support to coding staff, clinic personnel, and providers.
7. Assist Coding Leads in resolving issues related to claims errors stemming from incorrect coding and provide feedback for resolution and follow-up.

Work Schedule:
Full-time - Monday to Friday / No Weekends / No Holidays

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of college coursework in coding, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology is preferred.
Current coding certification is required (or willingness to obtain within two years): Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Other credentials may be considered.

Minimum of three years of coding experience.
