Position Overview:
The Precision Agriculture Specialist plays a crucial role in training and supporting retail teams in the effective application of advanced agricultural technologies. This includes responsibilities such as soil sampling, electrical conductivity data collection, and yield monitoring assistance, all aimed at enhancing customer service in precision agriculture information management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and assess new Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related technologies.
- Perform quality control checks on precision agriculture products developed for clients.
- Deliver and explain precision agriculture services to clients, collaborating closely with the sales team.
- Coordinate with the AI Information Specialist and AI Services Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services.
- Maintain regular communication with the Branch Manager, sales personnel, and other team members to meet customer expectations.
- Provide technical training and support to both the Helena team and clients utilizing precision agriculture services.
- Act as the primary contact for all fieldwork related to precision agriculture, including soil and tissue sampling.
- Assist in service-related sales, including seed treatment and other agricultural services.
- Facilitate educational activities on GPS-related software for field and office applications.
- Analyze collected field data to formulate management strategies and provide crop recommendations.
- Install precision agriculture equipment, including variable rate technology (VRT) hardware and yield monitors.
- Ensure the secure transfer of all collected data to the central processing center for timely analysis.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required, or alternatively, three years of relevant experience without a degree. Essential skills include:
- A foundational understanding of geography and GPS technology.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 25-30% of the time.
Work Environment:
Safety is paramount at Helena. Employees may work outdoors in various weather conditions and may encounter elements such as fumes, airborne particles, and other potential hazards. Physical requirements include the ability to perform manual tasks and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
