The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering high-quality patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care within the defined scope of practice.
- Guide and educate patients and their families, as well as oversee the activities of other nursing staff while upholding professional nursing standards.
- Take full responsibility for the care provided to patients in the Emergency Department.
- Effectively communicate with physicians regarding any changes in patients' clinical conditions, including diagnostic results and symptoms.
- Respond promptly and accurately to any alterations in patient conditions or treatment responses.
- Maintain knowledge of EMTALA regulations and the reporting procedures for child/adult abuse to the appropriate authorities.
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality are upheld at all times.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (specific units)
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or acceptable ENPC
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (for L&D)
- Advanced EFM (for L&D, updated every 2 years)
- State License - Copy of Professional License
- State License Verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- IV Certification (LVN/LPN)
- MAB - required for ER and Psych
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Certificate
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Proof of current license
- Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification
- Valid Picture ID (State Drivers License, Passport, or State ID Card)
