Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to other healthcare providers.
  • Maintain and review patient profiles, making recommendations to prescribers to ensure the appropriateness of therapy, avoid drug interactions, and adverse reactions.
  • Ensure the availability of approved medication for routine, emergency, and floor stock situations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy is required. Continuous education to maintain licensure is required.
  • Certification/Licenses: Licensure by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy is required. Continuous education to maintain licensure and certification(s), if any, is required.
  • Skills:
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Advanced mathematical skills required.
    • Keyboarding skills are preferred (must be able to develop competence using hospital pharmacy software).
    • Word processing skills are preferred.
    • Ability to work with medical staff, nursing staff, and other healthcare employees.
  • Experience: One year of experience as a licensed pharmacist is preferred.
Work Environment

You will work in a fast-paced environment with close quarters in a busy setting. You may be exposed to patients with infectious diseases and hazardous chemicals and allergenic drug products. You will also be required to work at a rapid pace throughout your shift, under demanding workloads and stressful situations.

Physical Requirements

You must be able to work at a rapid pace throughout your shift, while under demanding workloads and stressful situations. You must also have sufficient hearing to use telephones and pagers, and vision sufficient to read physician orders, requisitions, and reports. Hand to eye coordination sufficient for aseptic technique is also required.
