Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Project Engineer to join our team at Ascent Aerospace. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing controls systems for our automated assembly equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop controls systems for automated assembly equipment, including hardware design, programming, and commissioning.
  • Manage controls project schedules and budgets, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors to ensure timely delivery of electrical hardware and software.
  • Provide technical support for complex systems that integrate hardware and software controls elements.
  • Assist in the development of company standards to ensure consistency in project execution.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and advancements in the field to improve system design and performance.
Requirements
  • BA or BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
  • Proven experience in controls hardware design, PLC logic, and programming with Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE Fanuc, or Mitsubishi PLCs.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power and distribution systems.
  • Experience programming servo controllers and VFDs.
  • Proficient in programming Fanuc, Kuka, and/or ABB robots.
  • Knowledge of project management life cycle from requirements gathering through design and implementation.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of new and existing products, applications, and standards.

Travel Requirements

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel.

  • May access and work in the manufacturing plant.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds, occasionally lift and move objects up to 50lbs.
