The compensation for this role at PeaceHealth is $34.04 per hour. The hiring rate is influenced by various factors, including education, training, work experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Position Overview

This role is pivotal in delivering wellness evaluations, personalized or group exercise initiatives, program design, execution, and guidance in alignment with patient care plans. The specialist is responsible for maintaining high standards of service quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the formulation and execution of policies and procedures in a constructive manner.
  • Evaluates patients and conducts continuous reassessments concerning exercise physiology and clinical metrics to create a collaborative care plan. Performs wellness evaluations including cardiovascular, strength, endurance, flexibility, and body composition assessments for clients.
  • Engages in a collaborative approach to develop and implement treatment strategies.
  • Keeps accurate clinical records and systematically documents participant and program data in designated systems.
  • Provides recommendations for the acquisition of new equipment and space requirements.
  • Coordinates activities with other rehabilitation services and hospital departments.
  • Educates patients, family members, and caregivers on home exercise regimens and self-care practices. Develops and leads educational workshops.
  • Creates, implements, and participates in external wellness initiatives targeting specific demographics.
  • Designs exercise regimens based on wellness evaluation data to position clients on the exercise continuum. Assists in drafting health promotion articles and program details for various publications.
  • Advises patients/clients on assessment results, including setting realistic fitness and health improvement objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required: from an accredited four-year institution in exercise science, Physical Education, Wellness, or a related health field.
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of clinical experience in a Health/Wellness/Physical Rehabilitation program.
  • Required: Proficiency in exercise testing protocols.
  • Required: Understanding of exercise indications/contraindications and health training techniques.
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support certification.
  • Preferred: Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification.
