Join MasTec, a leading provider of infrastructure and clean energy solutions, as a Field Mechanic I. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the operations and appearance of MasTec Renewables equipment at the jobsite level.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks on construction equipment and vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, ensuring timely completion of work orders.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks, including wheel and tire changes, cutting edge replacement, and DOT inspections.
- Operate equipment to diagnose problems and inspect equipment for defects.
- Ensure equipment safety by performing regular checks on backup alarms, lights, seat belts, fire extinguishers, and rigging.
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Identify and report machinery defects or malfunctions to the Field Equipment Manager.
- Test vehicles and equipment when required.
- Keep work areas neat and clean.
- Maintain tool inventory on service trucks to ensure all tools are available and in working order.
- Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Report any safety issues immediately to the Field Equipment Manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certificate from college or technical school preferred.
- One to three years related experience.
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred.
- Must have Medical Examiner Certification or ability to obtain.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive company equipment per company policy.
- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles.
- Ability to read schematics.
- Ability to complete all aspects of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) recommended preventative maintenance services for engine, transmission, and hydraulic systems on construction equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to track and maintain records of completed work and update status of open work orders.
- Ability to complete scheduled maintenance tasks, including but not limited to: wheel and tire changes, cutting edge replacement, DOT inspections, services, etc.
- Ability to identify and request parts and complete repairs using OEM manuals.
- Ability to use digital systems, such as email, phone/tablet for inspections and photos, time tracking application, digital OEM manuals.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service equipment.
- Ability to use, repair, and maintain machines and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to work efficiently, independently, and follow through on assignments.
- Ability to work well with others.
