Generative AI Systems (Genesis)

The Generative AI Systems (Genesis) team within Card Data Science builds cutting-edge, generative AI-based solutions for dialogue, text summarization, reading comprehension, speech recognition, image/document processing as well as time-series sequencing modeling. We partner with product, tech, and design teams to deliver internal applications based on these solutions that drive efficiency in our business and data analytics teams, as well as customer-facing applications that enhance the customer experience. You will work with a seasoned group of natural language processing (NLP), speech, and computer vision specialists, experimenting with emerging technologies in generative AI, delivering software implementing these technologies, and contributing research to major NLP and AI/ML conferences.

Your Role

In this role, you will:

  1. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love
  2. Leverage a broad stack of technologies - Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more - to reveal valuable insights hidden within massive volumes of numeric and textual data
  3. Develop machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
  4. Demonstrate your interpersonal skills to communicate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals

  4. Have a strong foundation in statistics. You've built models, validated them, and backtested them. You can interpret a confusion matrix or a ROC curve. You have experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning.
  5. Are proficient in handling big data without breaking a sweat. You can retrieve, combine, and analyze data from various sources and structures. You understand how understanding the data often leads to great data science.

What We Require

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Hold a Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics or a Master's Degree plus 3 years in data analytics or a PhD in a STEM field
  2. Have at least 1 year of experience in open-source programming languages for large-scale data analysis
  3. Have at least 1 year of experience with machine learning
  4. Have at least 1 year of experience with relational databases

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  1. A Master's Degree in a STEM field plus 3 years of experience in data analytics or a PhD in a STEM field
  2. At least 1 year of experience working with AWS
  3. At least 3 years' experience in Python, Scala, or R
  4. At least 3 years' experience with machine learning
  5. At least 3 years' experience with SQL

Estimated Salary: $153,900 - $175,700 per year

This salary range reflects the competitive compensation package offered by Capital One for this role. Note that salaries may vary based on location and individual performance. Additionally, this role is eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
