As a Special Procedures Technologist in our Interventional Radiology Lab at Banner Health, you will play a crucial role in our high-acuity team. Our facility is recognized as a Magnet institution, an Academic Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Interventional Radiology Lab specializes in a variety of procedures, including venous, arterial, and non-endovascular interventions. Key procedures encompass angiograms, angioplasty, stent placements, neuro coiling, stroke thrombectomy, embolization of bleeds, Y-90 for liver cancer, ablations, and line placements for chemotherapy and hemodialysis.

The IR team consists of dedicated professionals, including registered nurses, interventional radiologists, neuro-interventionalists, advanced practice providers, and special procedure technologists. We foster a collaborative environment with physicians who have extensive experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in performing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures to treat various conditions, adhering to departmental policies and protocols.
2. Prepare patients and the work area for procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies are available and in good working order.
3. Anticipate the needs of the physician during procedures, passing wires, catheters, and devices as required.
4. Uphold aseptic and sterile techniques and universal precautions throughout all procedures.
5. Work on a 4x10 schedule with rotating days off, ensuring limited call requirements.

Position Overview:
This role involves executing specialized high-acuity radiographic procedures as directed, ensuring optimal patient care. You will:
1. Perform radiographic diagnostic and interventional procedures based on provider orders, using independent judgment and established methodologies.
2. Educate patients and their families about the procedures and treatments being performed.
3. Produce high-quality images and maintain accurate documentation for timely interpretation.
4. Demonstrate competence in performing invasive/interventional procedures, ensuring adherence to established policies.
5. Conduct equipment quality control measurements and maintain a safe environment for all.
6. Ensure efficient workflow within the department and manage inventory effectively.

Qualifications:
- Certificate or diploma from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and state licensure if applicable.
- Advanced certification in specialty required within 18 months of hire.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience is preferred.
