Job Summary: As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the success of our proposal efforts. We are seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to join our team at Insight Global.

About the Role:

  • You will be responsible for analyzing and estimating material and labor costs for proposal efforts.
  • You will interact with vendors and subcontractor personnel to collect data for proposals.
  • You will review manufacturing parts lists for accuracy and input data.
  • You may prepare final cost reports for domestic and international government proposals.
  • You will interface with government auditors in support of pre-award and post-award proposal price audits.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Analysis: You will review engineering plans, blueprints, and product specifications to determine material requirements in support of repair, fabrication, and/or modernization projects.
  2. Labor Requirements: You will estimate the labor requirements by trade, based on technical drawings and work specifications in support of repair, fabrication, and/or modernization projects.
  3. Estimate Formulation: You will consider all specified references including applicable NAVSEA Standard Items in the formulation of estimates.
  4. Proposal Support: You will perform a wide variety of complex planning activities required to attain awarded projects and to meet production objectives.
  5. Team Collaboration: You will work with Trade Foreman and other personnel to formulate estimates.
  6. Vendor Management: You will estimate or determine material and Other Direct Costs (ODC) via vendors and subcontractors.
  7. Documentation: You will prepare cost statements and other necessary documentation for the submittal of the quote.
  8. Purchasing Decisions: You will review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  9. Quality Assurance: You will factor in QA and Project Management requirements in the labor estimates.
  10. Quote Preparation: You will provide estimates in the format required by the contracts manager.
  11. BOM Creation: You will build bills of material (BOM).
  12. Drawing Management: You will receive and control government drawings.

Requirements:

  • You must be proficient in the use of MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience working in the US Navy's SUBSAFE program is preferred.
  • You must have 2-6 years of estimating experience.
  • You must be able to access and navigate through US Navy and Military Sealift Command ships, to perform ship checks to get a complete understanding of the scope of work.
  • You must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Items.
  • You must have a working knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models to extract material requirements.
  • You must have a working knowledge of the trades used in the ship repair industry.
  • You must have a SECRET level security clearance.

Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
