Position Title: Senior Engineer – Distributed Energy Resource

Job Overview:
The Senior Engineer in Distributed Energy Resources (DER) plays a crucial role in advancing our energy systems. This position involves a comprehensive analysis of DER feasibility and its impact on our power distribution network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed feasibility assessments and System Impact Studies to support DER Interconnection Agreements.
- Develop and maintain power flow models for distribution systems in relation to DER integration.
- Evaluate and document integration solutions for compliance with ISO-NE interconnection protocols.
- Design innovative solutions to address any identified assessment criteria violations.
- Engage with both internal teams and external partners to align on planning and integration needs.
- Explore various interconnection options and alternative strategies.
- Implement industry standards and regulatory requirements in distribution planning.
- Represent Eversource Energy in industry committees and contribute to expansion studies.
- Lead interdisciplinary teams to create effective engineering solutions.
- Oversee the management of inverter certifications and listings.
- Draft Special Operating Guidelines and mentor interns in best practices.
Technical Expertise:
- Extensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles and the fundamentals of the power sector.
- Proficient in power system modeling tools and simulation software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
- Skilled in software applications such as Synergi, Cyme/PSSE, PSCAD, eGIS, and Visio.
- Understanding of Eversource Energy's tariffs and technical specifications.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is necessary.
- Possession of an EIT or Professional Engineer's License is preferred.
Work Environment:
- Must be available for emergency response assignments as needed.
- Willingness to travel as required for project needs.
