A Critical Care Nurse is responsible for providing advanced level nursing care to critically ill patients in a hospital setting. Some of the key duties and responsibilities include:
- Monitoring vital signs and administering medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by the physician.
- Assessing and interpreting patient's conditions and communicating any changes or concerns to the physician and other healthcare team members.
- Developing and implementing patient care plans and ensuring that the patient's needs and goals are met.
- Administering and monitoring mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and other advanced medical treatments.
- Assisting in diagnostic procedures such as angiograms, CT scans, and bronchoscopies.
- Providing emotional support and education to patients and their families.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
- Documenting patient assessments, treatments, and progress in the medical record.
The ideal candidate for this position should have a current nursing license, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, and at least two years of experience working in a critical care unit. Additionally, they should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
