Security Officer

As a Security Officer at Louisiana State University, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the security and locking of all buildings and university property during and after business hours, as well as providing a visible presence on campus grounds through regular patrols on foot or security cart.
Key Responsibilities:
- Issue citations for traffic and parking violations, and direct traffic within an assigned area.
- Ensure the security and locking of all buildings and university property during and after business hours.
- Provide a visible presence on campus grounds through regular patrols on foot or security cart.
- Complete security statements and shift reports before the end of each shift.
- Make off-campus trips for university business, requiring an appropriate state driver's license.
- Maintain a filing system of vehicle registrations, security incident/shift reports, and other relevant documents.
- Check the identification of unknown persons on LSUE property.
- Maintain an accurate count of all keys and equipment issued to LSUE PD/Security.
- Render first aid and other assistance as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by the LSUE PD supervisor.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in a security or law enforcement role is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergency situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
