Psychiatrist - Correctional Health Care

VitalCore Health Strategies, a leading provider of correctional health care, is seeking a part-time psychiatrist to join our team at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown, Delaware.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide diagnostic evaluation and treatment to patients, as well as psychiatric consultation, diagnosis, and treatment. They will also provide clinical direction, general supervision, and training to site staff, and have other managerial responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Provide onsite psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of inmates referred by medical and clinical services staff.
- Provide written summaries of history, diagnosis, and treatment course.
- Provide psychiatric services for inpatients, including assessment, diagnosis, staffing, treatment planning, and regular review of all inmates assigned.
- Provide psychiatric services for inmates who need regular psychiatric/behavioral health follow-up.
- Act as regular psychiatrist and participate in treatment programming and planning for the Behavioral Health Unit, if applicable.
- Provide medication management to all inmates admitted.
- Provide individual and/or group therapy as appropriate.
- Approve, sign, and monitor the implementation and efficiency of treatment plans.
- Approve all admissions and discharges into the Behavioral Health Unit, if applicable.
- Provide in-service education to site staff as needed.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
- Must be a graduate of medical school and have completed an appropriate psychiatric residency.
- Must be licensed to practice in the state of Delaware and certified by the Office of Behavioral Health to provide psychiatric services in a licensed inpatient unit.
- Current DEA number.
- Maintain caseload and performance schedules, including peer review, clinical supervision, administrative meetings, and other administrative functions.
