The Security Officer plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for staff, clients, and visitors at Union Station Homeless Services' supportive housing sites.
This position requires a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service, crisis intervention, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Greet visitors and assist their access to the facility, promoting a welcoming environment.
- Assist residents and patrons with accessing services, including completing forms and providing information and referrals as needed.
- Interact with clients to identify needs and provide support in accessing additional available resources.
- Complete client assessment forms and prepare written reports as needed or requested by supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and neat work area, and ensure the safety of volunteers as they enter and leave the parking lot.
- Provide transportation to residents as authorized by supervisor and attend occasional offsite meetings.
Must have experience working with a diverse population, including varied socio-economic backgrounds, circumstances such as homelessness, mental/physical health challenges, and other diverse needs.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Security Guard Card is required.
Valid California driver's license is strongly preferred.
Work EnvironmentWork indoors in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures.
Stand for long periods of time, move and walk to various locations, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, push, bend, and twist, and lift and/or move objects (35 lbs.) for substantial periods of time during the day.
Able to work weekends on a regular basis.
See, hear, and speak clearly in order to give and receive information and instructions.
Ability to write to complete paperwork and required reports.
Ability to interact with other employees, clients, customers, and members of the public.
Ability to react and adapt to a changing work environment.
