Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team at MedStar Harbor Hospital. As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to expectant mothers and their newborns.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to laboring women and their newborns, including administering medications, performing vaginal exams, and assisting with deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, and take appropriate action in response to any changes or complications.
  • Assist with postpartum care, including providing emotional support and education to new mothers.
  • Participate in charge and preceptor duties, including mentoring new staff members and providing guidance on best practices.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • 3+ years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with a focus on circulate for C-section and LDRP experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in sterile vaginal exams and electronic fetal monitoring.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with triage and baby-friendly hospital practices.
  • Proficiency in stable and ACLS certifications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
