Position Overview:
ButterflyMX is in search of a Lead Software Engineer to become a vital part of our outstanding team, focusing on the development of top-tier products for the built environment. Our goal is to transform how individuals access the buildings they inhabit and work in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to conceptualize, develop, and enhance the APIs and services that drive our offerings.
  • Oversee large-scale initiatives from conception to deployment with a customer-centric approach.
  • Design, develop, and sustain efficient, reusable, reliable, and testable code.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and bugs, propose solutions, and implement optimizations.
  • Work comfortably across both front-end and back-end components of the architecture.
  • Establish patterns and systems for independently deployable full-stack services, ensuring alignment with team structure and business objectives.
  • Maintain high standards of code quality, organization, and automation.
  • Enhance existing documentation and create new resources.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating dedication, passion, and flexibility as a technologist committed to improving code quality, design, and system architecture.
  • Help define, document, and promote high engineering standards and best practices across various domains.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience specifically in TypeScript and JavaScript.
  • Proficient in automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in Agile environments and advocacy for Agile methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of testing principles and practices.
  • Extensive experience in developing and maintaining APIs, along with integrating third-party APIs.
  • Hands-on experience in a Distributed/Cloud-based environment (e.g., Amazon EC2/ECS, Lambdas, No-SQL DB, Azure) within a service-oriented architecture.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL query writing.
  • Experience with Docker and development in containerized environments.
  • Knowledge of security management for Linux/AWS/Docker environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with business and technical teams.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

Preferred Technologies:

  • GraphQL.
  • Experience in IoT device development.
  • Motivated by a desire to learn, collaborate, and enhance business success.
  • Well-versed in security, reliability, and scalability disciplines.
