Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified MEDICATION MANAGEMENT NURSE SPECIALIST to join our team under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director or Registered Nurse for medical matters and the Program Director for administrative matters. The successful candidate will participate in the promotion and restoration of patients' health, collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and provide support to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplies and administers medication pursuant to physician order and records dosage administered in the medical record.
  • Conducts daily inventory of medication supply, maintaining absolute accuracy in accounting of medication supplied or administered.
  • Safeguards medication inventory and collects fees in the absence of a cashier position.
  • Performs daily cash reconciliation, ensuring all cash collected is given to the Program Director for final count completion.
  • Ensures accurate receipt and disposal of medical waste through proper protocol.
  • Observes patient demeanor prior to dosing and seeks guidance from the Medical Director or Registered Nurse when necessary.
  • Promptly communicates patient issues or concerns to the Medical Director or Registered Nurse for medical matters and the Program Director for other matters.
  • Contact other centers to verify dosages as needed.
  • Administers lab tests, including patient vital signs, TB tests when required, and collects data for review by Medical Director or RN.
  • Schedules and screens patients for Medical Director appointments.
  • Assists Medical Director in collecting data for history and physical as required.
  • Makes medical record entries as directed by the Medical Director or RN, consistent with clinic protocol.
  • Receives medical orders, documents, and ensures understanding by Program Director and staff members as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient medical paperwork and complies with federal and state privacy rules.
  • Obtains and maintains proper licensure and/or certification according to specific state requirements.
  • Participates in CARF preparation and state audit process, as well as all staff meetings.
  • Complies with local, state, federal, and company rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Actively promotes patient interests, honors proprietary rights, and interfaces with the public and patients.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per annum

Education/Licensure/Certification: Active nursing license in the state where the clinic is located.

Required Skills and Qualifications: Understanding of opiate addiction, medical terminology, general nursing knowledge, basic mathematics skills, computer literacy, and Microsoft product proficiency.

Experience Required: Minimum 1-year direct patient contact and prior experience in a clinical environment preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Finger dexterity, talking, hearing, vision, standing most of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
