Role Overview

We're seeking an experienced Veterinarian to join our dynamic team at Petco's Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. As a key member of our hospital team, you'll play a vital role in delivering top-notch patient care and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient care through physical examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care
  • Utilize problem-based approaches to develop comprehensive treatment plans and ensure accurate diagnoses
  • Document all patient observations, findings, treatments, and interactions with clients in medical records
  • Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory surgeries, and mass removals
  • Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and communicate effectively with referral hospitals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
  • Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date
  • Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License (if applicable)
  • USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date
  • Comfort performing anesthesia and routine surgeries, including canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compassion and sympathy, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional situations
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, you'll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Work Environment

The majority of job duties will take place in our Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospital. You'll spend most of your time interacting with clients and their pets, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Physical demands include bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for extended periods.
