Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Excellence and Patient Care
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking, systems reviews, and the selection and administration of appropriate tests and measures.
- Evaluate patient data to make informed clinical judgments.
- Formulate patient diagnoses or problem lists based on gathered information.
- Establish patient prognoses, indicating expected improvement levels and timelines.
- Collaborate with patients and families to create care plans with measurable objectives.
- Implement patient interventions and oversee support staff.
- Provide education and training to patients and their families.
- Complete necessary documentation and communication regarding patient care.
- Develop and execute discharge plans in collaboration with other professionals.
- Work with hospital departments and community organizations to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Meet departmental productivity standards.
- Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy Technicians.
Program and Professional Development
- Supervise clinical students.
- Facilitate smooth departmental operations.
- Engage in PMR and hospital meetings.
- Participate in interdisciplinary committees and task forces.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist in program development efforts.
- Participate in inservices and community education provided by the hospital and department.
- Support the education and development of colleagues.
- Enhance understanding of rehabilitation and Physical Therapy within the hospital and community.
- Take responsibility for personal professional growth and development in clinical practice, regulatory, and fiscal matters.
- Meets educational requirements for obtaining a professional license in Physical Therapy.
- Holds a current, valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Iowa.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within three months of hire.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills.
- Exhibits a customer/patient-focused approach.
- Familiarity with standard equipment necessary for performing essential job functions.
