About the Role

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our multidisciplinary care teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to laboring women and their newborns, including administering medications, performing vaginal exams, and monitoring fetal heart rates.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in emergency situations, such as code blues and postpartum hemorrhages, and respond to critical situations with confidence and poise.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure informed decision-making and promote patient satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and quality by identifying and reporting near misses, errors, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Current state nursing license.
  • ACLS, NRP (or obtained within three months of employment).
  • BLS.
  • One year full-time or three years part-time experience in an acute care setting, preferably in labor and delivery.
