Job Description

We are seeking a Resident Engagement Worker to join our team at the Puerto Rican Cultural Center. As a Resident Engagement Worker, you will play a vital role in engaging with residents of Humboldt Park's unhoused communities and providing essential information, support services, and referrals.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the complex issues surrounding homelessness and a proven track record of working with vulnerable populations. You will be responsible for conducting regular visits to unhoused individuals, assessing their needs, and connecting them with local resources and services.

The Puerto Rican Cultural Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cultural awareness, social justice, and community development in Humboldt Park. Our mission is to empower marginalized communities through education, advocacy, and service.

Responsibilities

- Conduct regular visits to unhoused individuals, building trust and rapport with residents
- Assess the needs of residents and provide immediate support and referrals
- Collaborate with case managers and other service providers to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting unhoused residents
- Develop and distribute materials on available resources and services
- Participate in community meetings and forums to advocate for the needs and rights of unhoused and homeless residents

Requirements

- Proven experience in outreach, social services, or a similar role, preferably working with homeless or at-risk populations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups
- Knowledge of local resources and services available for homeless populations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are highly preferred
