Youth Transportation Specialist

The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs is seeking a skilled Transportation Officer I - Youth Services to join our team. This role is responsible for transporting juveniles in a safe and secure manner, ensuring their well-being and safety during transportation.

• Transport juveniles in facility vehicles, escorting them on trips and providing personal advice and assistance as needed.
• Maintain vehicles in perfect operating condition, performing routine maintenance and repairs, ordering parts, supplies, and equipment.
• Prepare and submit activity reports, maintaining accurate records of transportation activities.
• Provide safe and secure transport services for OJA custody youth to and from placement, juvenile detention centers, court hearings, and various other appointments.
• Responsible for transporting juveniles in restraints when required.
• Responsible for transporting to and from dentist, counseling, youth services, and/or other providers as identified.
• May supervise residents and perform other duties as assigned.

• At least six months of experience as an ambulance driver, commercial chauffeur, bus driver, taxi driver, or in a similar field.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Knowledge of simple health and safety precautions, basic automotive maintenance, basic first aid methods, and safe operation of motor vehicles.
• Ability to quickly appraise a situation and adopt an effective course of action, follow both oral and written instructions, exercise independent judgment and initiative, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and drive safely under adverse conditions.
• Must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel, possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license at time of appointment, and pass a background check and drug screening.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle emergency situations, and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
