We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care and leadership to our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and supervise medical and infection control activities, monitoring trends and making recommendations for improvement.
- Provide comprehensive physical assessments and medical history to arrive at the most appropriate multi-axial diagnostic impressions and formulations.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies as necessary, and monitor patient response to treatment on an ongoing basis.
- Document all patient encounters, including assessment, rationale for treatment interventions, and other related issues.
- Oversee the implementation of the hospital infection control plan, monitoring the status of infectious diseases and developing plans for improvement.
- Act as a resource for infection control and consultant to general medical physicians.
- Provide treatment to state hospital employees injured in the course and scope of employment.
- Establish and maintain professional competencies through participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs or activities.
- Knowledge of APRN scope of practice and understanding of collaborative agreement for APRNs and Physicians.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and treatment appropriate to the age-related needs of patients served.
- Knowledge of the principles of public health practices.
- Knowledge of disease management and risk analysis.
- Skills in the care and treatment of patients, and in the use of medical diagnostic and treatment tools and equipment.
- Skills in project management, prioritization, and program evaluation.
- Ability to examine, diagnose and treat physical disorders.
- Ability to interpret laboratory analyses and X-Rays.
- Ability to direct medical activities.
- Ability to evaluate the age-specific needs of patients and implement an effective course of treatment in coordination with other disciplines.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals, and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Education and ExperienceA Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school, and completion of a residency program in a relevant specialty. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in clinical leadership and infection control.
