Medical Professional for Short Stay Unit

We are seeking a skilled Medical Professional to join our team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. This role will be based in our Lower Level Short Stay Unit (LL JCP), which is part of our Medical Surgical Services (MSS) Division.
About the RoleAs a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing patients' nursing care needs, evaluating the effectiveness of care provided, and integrating nursing theory and research into clinical practice. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop patient care plans that meet individual needs and provide high-quality, compassionate care.
The diverse patient population on this unit includes both medical and surgical patients who require observation or recovery-level care. You will assess patient health care preferences and expectations, coordinate the continuum of care across settings, and implement patient care plans according to department, division, and/or unit policies.

- Develop patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions.
- Implement patient care plan according to patient priorities and department, division, and/or unit policies.
- Collaborate and integrate contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate's Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 minimum to commensurate, based on experience and percent of effort. Additionally, you will be eligible for fringe benefits, including paid vacation, sick leave, health, dental, life, and disability insurance options, and generous employer contributions into retirement plans.
We also offer shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts, as well as premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours. Inpatient differential of $5,000 per year based on percent time.
