Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: A09 - 8HR/Daily

Duty Days: 261 Days

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED with college coursework

Required EPA certifications I and II; Universal certification preferred

Possession of a Texas operator's license

Proficient in operating and maintaining HVAC and low-temperature refrigeration systems

Minimum of two years' experience with computer-based energy management and life safety systems

Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and district personnel

Texas State Contractors License Type B preferred; ability to obtain required

Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds

Proficient in understanding written and spoken English

Primary Purpose:

To oversee the inspection and maintenance of HVAC systems across the district, ensuring a conducive environment for students, staff, and the community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Take lead responsibility for testing all smoke and fire dampers in district facilities.
  2. Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
  3. Implement updates and modifications to building automation and life safety system programs as needed.
  4. Execute repairs and/or new installations as per approved work orders.
  5. Advise when external contracted services are necessary.
  6. Adhere to all safety regulations pertinent to the trade.
  7. Suggest supplies and equipment for procurement.
  8. Identify and report any safety hazards within buildings.
  9. Maintain an inventory of necessary supplies.
  10. Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and communicate issues to the HVAC Supervisor.
Equipment Utilized:

Computer systems, meters, gauges, welding apparatus, ladders, hoists, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch, light truck or van.

Working Conditions:

Involves continuous walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting. Work may occur in uncomfortable positions, both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent travel across the district is required, and night shifts may be necessary.
