We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Surgical Technologist to join our team at North Carolina Specialty Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in surgical operations under the guidance of surgeons, registered nurses, or other OR personnel.
- Perform scrub activities based on principles of aseptic technique, infection control, universal precautions guidelines, environmental control, and life safety guidelines.
- Prepare and know the specific uses of equipment, instrumentation, and supplies used for surgical procedures.
- Locate and operate equipment, handle and operate equipment properly, and initiate service requests and report to supervisor when equipment malfunctions.
- Implement and maintain preference cards in an updated complete form using automated processes and clinical information systems.
- Identify potential risks to patients and take actions to reduce the incidence of injury.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including guidelines for appropriate conduct, corporate compliance, diversity, and confidentiality.
- Completion of an accredited school of surgical technology or equivalent in clinical surgery training/experience.
- One to three years of previous surgery experience in at least two specialty areas preferred.
- BLS certification through an accredited AHA or ARC program; Certified Surgical Technician preferred.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and written.
- Computer skills needed.
- Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
