Physician (Internal Medicine) - San Antonio, TX

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Internal Medicine Physician to join our team at the Defense Health Agency in San Antonio, TX. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our Internal Medicine Training Program.
Responsibilities- Provide primary care to adult patients with acute and chronic illnesses and conditions, including congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes.
- Examine patients, take histories, perform physical examinations, order laboratory tests, and make definitive diagnoses and prescribe treatment.
- Admit patients to the hospital when necessary and monitor and manage care for patients as they move through the system to ensure cost-effective care.
- Notify patients of abnormal reports and perform outpatient procedures, including graded exercise tests.
- Serve as an inpatient general medicine ward attending physician and be available for telephonic or personal consultation for inpatient care when on call.
- Responsible for consultative preoperative and perioperative recommendations to the surgical specialties in BAMC and teach consultative medicine to housestaff assigned to their rotation.
- Participate in the teaching activities of both residents and interns and direct the input into continual quality improvement of the Internal Medicine Training Program.
- Attend Department or Hospital board or committee meetings and participate in the clinic Utilization Management and Quality Assurance processes.
- US Citizenship required
- Board Certified/Eligible
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation.
- A permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
