Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Substance Abuse Counselor III to join our team at Wasco State Prison. As a key member of our treatment team, you will play a vital role in delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services to participants in our Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
  • Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum and lead face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic processes.
  • Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectations for participation and completion.
  • Work directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
  • Review treatment plans, evaluate, and record treatment progress, and maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's Degree in a social service-related field and licensure by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, or equivalent experience and certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and typing skills.
  • Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred).
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard participant confidentiality.
