Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce high-quality ECHO and/or vascular images.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality and efficient ultrasound exams to assist with patient diagnostic work-ups
  • Follow routine protocols and/or physician-specific prescriptions to ensure accurate and compassionate patient care
  • Provide accurate and compassionate patient care to ensure service excellence, patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction
  • Perform various record-keeping tasks to ensure department goals are met, medical record documentation accuracy, and daily operations run smoothly and efficiently
  • Participate in various learning opportunities to further personal knowledge/skills and assist with teaching or training others

Requirements:

  • A minimum of an associate degree required and completion of an accredited (CAAHEP) School of Diagnostic Sonography or an additional 12 months of full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography instruction
  • Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry-level standards of routine HVC imaging
  • RDCS (ARDMS) /RCS (CCI) in echocardiography certification required for Cardiac Sonographer
  • RVT is required for vascular ultrasound and BLS certification (obtained within 3 months of hire)

Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift (patient transfers) and push 40 lbs. (portable US equipment). Requires extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Moving equipment, ultrasound machine, and scanning bed to accommodate demand for different types of ultrasound tests. Assumes awkward body positioning at times.

Additional Information:

Sign on Bonus Eligible. Two years of related experience preferred. Must be either a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS). Experience in structural heart procedures (TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman). Proficient in TEEs and probe cleaning.
