Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at NYU Langone Health's Tisch Hospital. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, responsible for completing various tasks and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completes annual competency assessments and unit inspections.
  • Stores and secures medications, and reviews stock for expired items.
  • Places and expedites orders, verifies receipts, and receives shipments as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of State and Federal laws related to controlled substances.
  • Operates pharmacy technology and medication procurement processes.
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory and removes outdated medications.
  • Prepares and documents sterile product compounding under pharmacist supervision.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas.
  • Repacks and distributes medications as needed.
  • Reviews patient information and prints labels when necessary.
  • Participates in training new Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Answers phone calls and interacts with healthcare providers and patients.
  • Places orders and receives medication and supplies.
  • Maintains certification and registration as a Pharmacy Technician.

Requirements:

To qualify, you must have a High School Diploma and 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or completion of the NYU Pharmacy Technician training program. You must also have knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, as well as procedures for labeling and dispensing drugs. Excellent organization and communication skills are required, along with proficiency in computer software and basic Microsoft programs. A Registered NYS Pharmacy Tech certification and registration are also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
