Position Overview:
The Inclusive Education Specialist at Bellefaire JCB is responsible for delivering exceptional educational experiences tailored to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves providing high-quality instruction in both individual and small group settings under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student, ensuring that their unique learning requirements are met.
- Create engaging lesson plans that cater to the strengths and weaknesses of students, utilizing effective teaching strategies and modalities.
- Supervise students during class and transitional periods, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Conduct regular safety assessments in the classroom and throughout the school, reporting any incidents to the appropriate authorities.
- Collaborate with safety personnel to execute fire and safety protocols, educating students on these essential measures.
- Prepare detailed progress reports that reflect each student's academic journey and achievements, with a minimum of two evaluations conducted throughout the academic year.
Additional Duties:
- Participate in regular staff meetings focused on student development, curriculum enhancement, and behavior management strategies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through training sessions and workshops provided by the organization.
- Maintain compliance with all required certifications and licensure, ensuring they are up-to-date with industry standards.
- Contribute to the clinical record by completing necessary documentation in a timely manner, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
- Uphold high ethical standards and professionalism in all interactions, following organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid Ohio Special Education Teaching Certificate.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated initiative and independent judgment in performing job responsibilities. Proficient in oral and written communication, as well as using relevant software and systems.
- Experience: A combination of education, training, and experience working with children with autism or similar developmental challenges.
