Job Summary

The Psychiatric Social Worker is a key member of our interdisciplinary team, providing direct assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning to our members. This role requires a deep understanding of psychopathology and the ability to recognize timely clinical treatment interventions. The Psychiatric Social Worker may work with specific age groups, determined by training and certification. This position demands expertise in various treatment modalities and a strong focus on direct patient care.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Timely and accurate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of members.
  • Effective selection of treatment modalities to address members' presenting problems.
  • Clear communication of clinical material to members and clinical staff.
  • High internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Expertise in various treatment methodologies.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in members' charts.
  • Knowledge of KP and community resources.
  • Adherence to mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure.
  • Maintenance of licensure.
Competencies
  • Conduct initial interviews with members, eliciting and interpreting the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
  • Determine the urgency of members' needs.
  • Provide professional interpretations of members' presentations and recommend courses of therapeutic action, selecting appropriate treatment modalities.
  • Provide treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Rend immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis or in need of clinical services.
  • Maintain written records of therapy, prepare reports, and letters; phone, write, and visit social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
  • Provide clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
  • Provide telephone assessment, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
  • Proficiency in identifying and treating the span of developmental stages.
  • Proficiency in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
Basic Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five (5) years.
  • Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California).
