Position Title: Certified Cardiovascular Surgical Technician (CVOR) - Travel Role

Location: Rochester, NY

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Work Schedule: 8-hour Day Shifts

Compensation: $60 per hour

Position Summary
  • Certification Requirement: Must possess NBSTSA Certification.
  • Shift Details: Day shifts from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM for 8 hours or until 5 PM for 10 hours. No 12-hour shifts are available.
  • On-Call Duties: One on-call day during the week and one full weekend on-call each month, with one late shift weekly if the operating room is still in use.
  • Experience: Cardiac experience is essential for this CVOR Technician role. Candidates must be proficient in cardiovascular surgery, with a preference for those experienced in thoracic procedures.
  • Weekend and Late Shift: One weekend on-call per month, one on-call day weekly, and one late shift weekly.
Key Responsibilities
  • Preoperative Responsibilities:
    • Prepare the surgical suite by arranging instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes.
    • Ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready and operational.
    • Confirm patient identity and surgical procedure with the surgical team.
    • Assist in positioning the patient on the operating table.
  • Intraoperative Responsibilities:
    • Provide instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the operation.
    • Maintain a sterile environment and monitor for any breaches in sterile technique.
    • Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment as required.
    • Assist with hemostasis, suturing, and wound closure as directed by the surgeon.
    • Document the surgical procedure, including times and materials utilized.
  • Postoperative Responsibilities:
    • Assist in transferring the patient to the recovery area.
    • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
    • Restock the surgical suite for upcoming procedures.
    • Engage in debriefings and provide insights to enhance surgical procedures and patient care.
  • Required Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and aseptic techniques.
    • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
    • Capability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
