Lead Registered Nurse

Job Summary:
The Lead Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role can be assigned to two or more units based on need and will maintain competency to practice in all units.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
- Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care.
- Communicates with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS (ARC/AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Current ACLS (ARC/AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Current PALS (ARC/AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Able to float to two or more units and maintain competency within assigned areas.

Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology.
Knapp serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery.
Knapp has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to Mid-Valley residents for 60 years. More than 300 physicians serve on the hospital's medical staff. Knapp also serves as one of the largest employers in the Mid-Valley, employing more than 450 people.
