Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of non-supervisory employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Identify and prioritize maintenance requirements, ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate utility repairs and maintenance activities, including water systems and tanks.
  • Maintain fencing and gates, roads, pens, and alleys, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for livestock.
  • Assist in the management of manure removal programs, including contracting with farmers and transporters.
  • Set a positive example for employees by modeling safe work practices and enforcing safety policies.
  • Manage department supplies inventory, including researching costs and designing inventory systems.
  • Participate in the development of department budgets and manage expenses.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and heavy equipment.
  • Cattle handling and nutrition knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Database software.
  • Valid driver's license.
Competencies:

Expected to coordinate projects, manage difficult employee situations, participate in meetings, and work within approved budgets.

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to work in a variety of conditions, including outdoor weather conditions and exposure to airborne particles.

Physical Demands:

The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and shovel feed on a regular basis.
