Telecommunications Systems Technician

As a Telecommunications Systems Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and effective installation, upkeep, diagnosis, and repair of all equipment essential for Command Center operations. This role encompasses electronic, electrical, and mechanical tasks as required, along with additional responsibilities assigned by your supervisor.
Position Requirements
Essential Qualifications
• Commitment to safety and promoting safe practices among colleagues
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the mining sector required
• Proficient in general computer applications such as MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and other commonly used software
• Familiarity with electronic troubleshooting tools including multi-meters, Ethernet cable testers, and antenna cable testers
• Competence in testing and diagnosing Local Area Networks (LANs) and WiFi networks and hardware
• Ability to operate light-duty vehicles (with trailers) under various weather conditions
• Experience operating man lifts and/or bucket trucks
• Willingness to accurately document completed and pending work
• Capability to work independently in remote areas, demonstrating self-motivation and effective prioritization of tasks
• Coordination of work schedules with operations to minimize production disruptions
• Maintenance of all tools and equipment in a safe manner
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
• Background in maintenance with experience in electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems is preferred
• Experience with the installation, repair, and maintenance of Modular Mining Dispatch Systems (MMSI)
• Familiarity with software programs such as Rajant BC Commander Modules, MMSI Mobile Manager, Telnet and Ping utilities, MMSI Command Line Utility, MMSI Dispatch Utilities, and Reports
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain Motorola Digital Two-Way Radio Systems
• Manage Modular Mining Dispatch Systems (MMSI)
• Oversee Matrikon (Fleet Monitoring System)
• Work with Rajant (Mesh Communicating System)
• Handle PTX systems
• Maintain Caterpillar CAES Systems
• Install and configure Sirius Radios
• Execute installations in mining equipment (haul trucks, rubber tire dozers, track dozers, blades, scrapers, shovels, drills, draglines, etc.)
• Connect and integrate with electrical systems (12 and 24 volt)
• Manage general computer networking and wireless communication systems
• Set up mobile repeaters and towers
• Handle Modular hubs
• Install antennas
• Manage communications and low voltage power cabling
• Oversee interface cabling and connections between systems
• Manage power supplies, solar panels, and battery backup systems
• Oversee electric gates and sirens
• Interpret electrical/electronic schematics
Physical Requirements
Work Environment
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
- Ability to sit for up to 4 hours while operating equipment or vehicles
- Ability to work from elevated positions, and climb stairs/steps and on/off equipment and ladders
- Ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as mandated by the company
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs with good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to lift and carry weight frequently during the work shift
- Ability to work in extreme conditions, including changing weather, dust, noise, and confined spaces
- Ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, and nights, with rotating schedules
- Trade Certificate preferred
