Position Overview:

The Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) will oversee various projects ranging from small to large scale. Responsibilities include conducting research, performing complex boundary and construction calculations, evaluating fieldwork, and drafting project plans in a CAD environment. This role requires collaboration with the Principal Land Surveyor to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct PLS tasks on various surveys including Plats, BLA's, ALTA/NSPS surveys, as-builts, and shoreline boundaries.
  • Ensure the precision of survey data through meticulous measurements and calculations.
  • Determine terrain characteristics such as heights, depths, and property lines.
  • Investigate legal records and land titles to gather information on property boundaries.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions to document survey work.
  • Lead surveys to establish legal property boundaries based on deeds and titles.
  • Draft property boundary descriptions for legal documents.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a Washington State PLS and LSIT with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to comprehend the necessary tasks for completing survey work in a PLS role.
  • Experience in preparing construction calculations under supervision.
  • Familiarity with GPS technology and accuracy standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with Engineering and Planning departments for project success.
  • Availability for a standard forty-hour work week with potential for overtime.
  • Valid Washington Driver's License is required.
  • Fieldwork may be a component of the role.
  • Strong proficiency in drafting and interpreting legal descriptions is essential.
  • Effective communication skills to relay project requirements to field crews.
  • Proficient in time management, budget tracking, and conducting fieldwork related to construction and boundary surveys.
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test if requested and maintain a clean driving record.
