Purpose of the Position
The Radiation Therapy Therapist is responsible for the administration of radiation therapy services and monitoring patient reactions.
Key Responsibilities
- The Radiation Therapist schedules patients efficiently to accommodate patients, physicians, and staffing schedules.
- The Radiation Therapist delivers prescribed planned courses of radiation therapy accurately to patients for disease control.
- The Radiation Therapist charts treatment records and billing accurately and timely to provide information daily in compliance with state and BVRCC policy.
- The Radiation Therapist notifies physicians regarding patient care concerns promptly to prevent misunderstandings.
- The Radiation Therapist completes daily assignments and prepares for the next day efficiently to maintain department flow and patient satisfaction.
- The Radiation Therapist monitors supplies and equipment continually to prevent adverse impacts from potential situations.
- The Radiation Therapist observes radiation safety measures for patients and personnel to meet state requirements and department safe operating procedures.
- The Radiation Therapist ensures correct CPT codes are charged and correct encounter types are registered.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy required.
- Registered by ARRT.
- Current state of Ohio radiological license in radiation therapy.
- Ability to interpret patient information and provide care according to policies and procedures.
- Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Knowledge of patient age-specific needs and ability to provide care accordingly.
Preferred Qualifications
- One to two years related work experience.
Physical Demands
This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting, and standing. The associate will be required to stand, walk, and sit for extensive periods. This position requires the employee to lift fifty pounds. The associate must have excellent eye-hand coordination and reach work above the shoulders. This position requires corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Associate must have excellent verbal communication skills to assist patients and physicians.
This position is classified 'at risk' for possible occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.).
