An electric utility organization is seeking an HVAC Laboratory Technician to oversee laboratory upkeep, conduct testing, and perform analyses on various upcoming laboratory initiatives.

Position: HVAC Laboratory Technician

Compensation: $25/hr. on W2 (Dependent on Experience)

Contract Duration: 12 months or longer

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Lab Technician is responsible for laboratory maintenance, testing, and analysis related to several upcoming lab projects.
  • The technician will engage with various types of customer-side equipment, including advanced air conditioning systems and heat pump water heaters, utilizing laboratory tools and equipment.
  • Tools utilized may range from handheld manual tools to power tools and machine tools.
  • Laboratory equipment may include large or complex machinery.

ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and results to team members; willing to assist colleagues when necessary. Must be confident in halting work to address safety concerns.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree is mandatory.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience in operating laboratory testing equipment, including instrumentation and sensors.
  • Proficient in calibrating and tracking inventory of various lab tools and equipment.
  • Skilled in setting up and maintaining various lab tools and testing equipment.
  • Commitment to completing work safely, accurately documenting tasks performed, and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate lab testing results or issues with the Senior Lab Technician and Project Lead Engineer.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory test equipment, including maintenance and calibration.
  • Lab experience in mechanical, chemical, biological, or food processing settings is beneficial.
  • Preferred experience with instrumentation sensors and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with plumbing, mechanical refrigeration, air conditioning, or other thermal systems is also preferred.
  • Lab experience must be validated and confirmed.
